How does this work investigate “hope?”
“Asian American Arts Centre has been exhibiting Asian American artists since 1983 promoting this field as a special field of study. Finding Ashley in 2016 her paintings as a second generation Red Guard was remarkable. To find that after Trump’s election she had transformed into a performance artist & in a set of video tapes into ‘Miss Expanding Universe’ was even more remarkable. With a Red Guard as a mom inspiring her to deal with the clutter of NYC she has taken on the despair of this human situation as if she has realized what what we all need and in an endless stream let it pour forth.” —Robert Lee

“Cross-cultural artists: Miss Expanding Universe (Ashley Yang Thompson) and J Triangular, Poetry/video series called Lunch Poems (VHS Tapes). The aim is to elevate the everyday heroic actions of ordinary people to Fine Art. We celebrate achievements in the Domestic Arts. Performance art extend into everyday life. Metaphysics of acts.
