How does this work investigate “hope?”
”The short clip is the story of a continuous struggle with a victorious ending, promising a world free of old entanglements. A shadow in the wind stranded on a branch, dances with vigor in a struggle to set itself loose. Not without fault yet determined, the plastic bag trembles feverishly, riding with the force of nature and the power of accidental and corroborated truth, miraculously the victorious white shadow flies free from the rigid borders of the frame merging with the unseen to create a moment filled with potential. The film encapsulates a long awaited yet fleeting moment of hope.” —Taraneh Hemami
About the work:
“As the tension between my home country Iran and where I live at the moment, USA, is escalating, I’m expressing my feeling by using the natural force wind. The possibility of hope faints as a result of many factors such as cancellation of the nuclear energy agreement, signed originally in 2015, when this short film was made, travel ban for Iranian nationality since 2016, continuous and increasing sanction on Iran, and now the worst condition with the health pandemic that will result a harsh economic condition for the world and mostly my country not having access to medicine.” —Minoosh Zomorodinia
