How does this work investigate “hope?”
"Hindrance reflects on the challenges that a woman faces throughout their life journey in Iran. These challenges are often the results of political and cultural obstacles that transported from the previous generations to the next ones. Women in Iran, like so many other parts of the words, are reversing unnecessary and out of dated ideology that creates barriers for women's independent life. Hindrance shows this journey as a non-linear loop of survival and resistance in contemporary life.” —Shaghayegh Cyrous
About the work:
“Our journey is a combination of trials. We are constantly building and rebuilding our life. Winning and losing is the result of the games we are playing. Crashes and falls are part of the learning process to get closer to success, balance, and self-understanding. These practices are getting us closer to fathoming all the levels of ourselves to experience the consciousness within finally. The goal is to meditate the mind to clear all the spots and become one to our mind.
In this video, I tried to create an experience to show how this sphere is spinning around our life. The challenges we are facing in this practice are created by the world around us and sometimes ourselves. So, the essential factor is to believe that we have power over all these ups and downs. All we need is to clear the mind to get to the highest level of Dhyana.” —Mehregan Pezeshki
